Storyteller
Sebastian Robins is a career educator, farmer, and activist, currently living in Ann Arbor Michigan. He taught in San Francisco's public elementary schools and universities for many years before moving to the mountains of northern New Mexico to live at, and eventually direct, an ecumenical retreat center and intentional community. It was there that he embraced Islam, met his wife, got married and became a father. In 2015, he and his wife's "Ask A Muslim" project, in the wake of the San Bernardino and Paris night club shootings, provoked conversation and reflection, and has been replicated in countless places across the world. Their project is featured in Josh Seftel's "The Secret Life of Muslims."
In 2021 he and his wife hosted PBS' The Great Muslim American Road Trip, traveling Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles, meeting change-making Muslims in unlikely corners of the West.

Storyteller
Mona Haydar is a Syrian American rapper, poet, activist, chaplain, and co-host of the PBS documentary series The Great Muslim American Road Trip. Raised in Flint, Michigan to Syrian immigrant parents, Mona holds an MA in Social Ethics from Union Theological Seminary. She gained national attention with her viral protest song “Hijabi (Wrap My Hijab),” recognized by Billboard as one of the top protest songs of 2017. Alongside her husband Sebastian Robins, Mona traveled Route 66 exploring the African American Muslim experience—highlighting community, resilience, interfaith connections, and American Muslim identity along the journey.
